Call for participation: HITS@ITU

Apply to be one of the select 12 exhibitors at HITS@ITU, an exhibition of tech innovations organized as a side event of the ITU Telecom World 2015 conference, held on October 12th-15th in Budapest.

Organized by the Hungarian Mobility and Multimedia Cluster (MMCluster) at the invitation of, and in cooperation with, the ITU Telecom World 2015 Conference Secretariat of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TradeHITS@ITU provides an opportunity for innovative businesses and individuals to showcase their latest digital products and services to several hundreds of policy makers, industry experts, corporate decision makers, and representatives of the media, arriving for the event from all over the world. Modeled on MMCluster’s Hungarian Innovation TechShow (HITS), the objective of HITS@ITU is to present a select group of Hungarian tech innovators to the international audience, and offer a chance for the selected exhibitors to get visibility at the event and get in touch with top policy makers and potential business partners.

12 exhibitors will be selected from among the applicants to this open call by a panel of entrepreneurs, industry experts, and policy makers. The winning applicants will get a chance to show and pitch their product/service on two full days at ITU Telecom World 2015, held on October 12th-15th 2015, in front of the hundreds of participants, among them top decision makers from the international political and business elite. The language of the conference and the exhibition will be English.

ITU Telecom World is a global annual event by the International Telecommunications Union, the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs), bringing together the public and private sectors from emerging and developed markets around the world. This year for the first time the event will be held in Budapest, following ITU Telecom World 2014 in Doha, Qatar, ITU Telecom World 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand, ITU Telecom World 2012 in Dubai, UAE, and ITU Telecom World 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland.

HITS@ITU is seeking new tech products, solutions, prototypes, and services that meet the following criteria:

  • were developed/created in the past 1-3 years,
  • have at least a functioning prototype that can be exhibited and interactively demoed,
  • have some element of genuine, internationally valid innovation in them,
  • belong – preferably but not exclusively – to one of the following areas:- mobile technologies, mobile applications- innovative financial solutions- M2M communication, Internet of Things- IT solutions supporting corporate processes

    – 3D printing

    – biotechnology, e-health

    – big data, data analytics, AI

    – smart systems

    – internet access, on-line identity, cyber security

    – robotics

    transportation, urban life and mobility.

Successful applicants will get (free of charge):

  • Two conference passes to the ITU World Telecom 2015 event for two of the four days
  • Exhibition space during the event (includes exhibition stand/booth, power, internet, digital display unit, and company signage)
  • Chance to pitch their business in the Hungarian Pavilion of ITU World Telecom 2015
  • Consideration for one of the three HITS@ITU prizes, decided – on the basis of the exhibits and the exhibitors’ pitches – partly by a jury and partly by the event’s audience.

Expectation towards exhibitors:

  • Exhibitors will be expected to be present at their booths, and interact with the conference participants passing by, for two full days during the first three days of the conference (October 12th-14th) from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. The selection panel will decide which companies will exhibit on which days of the conference.
